State Spaces, Local Logics, and Non-monotonicity
This paper uses the information-theoretic machinery developed in IF 2] to relate the way error is handled in the sciences to the problems of non-monotonic reasoning. In Information Flow in Distributed Systems 2] (hereinafter IF) Jerry Seligman and I develop a mathematical theory of information. One problem tackled there that of accounting for the sorts of exceptions to law-like regularities ass...
متن کاملLattice-Plasmon Quantum Features
in this work, some of the lattice plasmon quantum features are examined. Initially, the interaction of the far-field photonic mode and the nanoparticle plasmon mode is investigated. We probe the optical properties of the array plasmon that are dramatically affected by the array geometry. It is notable to mention that the original goal of this work is to examine the quantum feature of the array ...
متن کاملQuantum logics with given centres and variable state
We ask which logics with a given centre allow for enlargements with an arbitrary state space. We show in this note that these are precisely those logics the centre of which possesses a two-valued state and the state space of which is nonempty. This extends the results of 1] and 9] and supplements the results of 3] and 10]. We also comment on some related questions.
متن کاملSpectral presheaves as quantum state spaces.
For each quantum system described by an operator algebra [Formula: see text] of physical quantities, we provide a (generalized) state space, notwithstanding the Kochen-Specker theorem. This quantum state space is the spectral presheaf [Formula: see text]. We formulate the time evolution of quantum systems in terms of Hamiltonian flows on this generalized space and explain how the structure of t...
متن کاملTopological decomposition of composite quantum state spaces
We present a two-part program for state space decomposition. States are classified into entanglement classes based on local unitary transformations, and then characterized as elements of topological spaces using the language of fibre bundles. c © 2008 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (000.3860) Mathematical methods in physics; (270.0270) Quantum optics Much effort has been spent in attemp...
